New Challenges: Many CoV-19 Variations Appear in the World.
Fighting against
CoV-19 is facing new challenges now as there have been many CoV-19 variations in the world.
On December 21, local time, Michael Ryan, head of WHO's health emergency program, said at a press conference that there have been many
mutations in CoV-19 in the past few months, some of which have driven the spread of CoV-19, but none of them can cause more serious diseases or escape diagnosis, nor can they affect the efficacy of vaccines.
At present,
mutated CoV-19 is spreading rapidly in Britain, WHO said:
① At present, there is no evidence that the mutant virus is more deadly;
② The transmission power of this variant virus increased, and the transmission index increased from 1.1 to 1.5;
③ Viral variation does not affect most detection;
④ The existing variations will not have a significant impact on therapeutic drugs or vaccines;
⑤ The variant viruses found in South Africa are different from those found in Britain. Although they appeared at the same time, they are unrelated variants.
The propagation rate of
British variation CoV-19 is increased by 70%. On the morning of the 21st, an article in the BBC mentioned that the British government acknowledged that the transmission rate of the
mutated CoV-19 increased by 70%.
How to get the figure of 70% According to CCTV news, the British government's statement that "the infectivity of new strains is 70% higher" may be concluded based on the data of epidemic growth rate. At present, it cannot tell exactly what extent the mutation has improved the transmission and pathogenicity of the virus.
It is reported that the
variant has spread to almost all parts of Britain except Northern Ireland, mainly in London, the southeast and the east of England. According to Nextstrain's data, this variant virus from Britain also appeared in Denmark and Australia. Cases have also been reported in the Netherlands. Similar variants in South Africa seem to have nothing to do with it.
According to the BBC, virus mutation (D614G) appeared in Europe as early as February, and then it became the dominant form of global transmission of
CoV-19. The virus mutates and spreads at a very fast rate, which undoubtedly causes
certain panic among people.
According to a report by the BBC on the 21st, more than 30 countries and regions in the world have issued British travel bans out of fear of the spread of
mutant CoV-19. These countries include Belgium, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Romania, Russia, Switzerland and India. The European Union is negotiating urgently, and the French government says it will come up with an agreement to restore traffic with Britain as soon as possible.
